Program overview

MINATEC Crossroads'10 events
- 5ème IDEA’s Day (in french only)
Forum de partage et de réflexion dédié aux enjeux d’innovation.
This workshop will give you an opportunity to discover the latest achievements in semiconductor memory technologies, and share your views with colleagues from industry and academia.
Presentation of leading-edge research and development on nanostructures specifically designed for clinical applications; learn about the most promising nano-assemblies specifically designed for human in vivo use.
During the conference, our guest speakers will provide keen insights on the role of Research & Technology Organizations (RTO), and we will give an update on the latest changes in Leti's and our partners' strategies.
The program includes a presentation of Leti's strategic positioning and the New Technology Review.
Hear the results of observatoryNANO project review activities. Topics covered: all aspects of the value chain from basic research to market applications in terms of scientific, technological and socio-economic developments and prospects; ethical and societal considerations; potential environment, health and safety issues; and developments in regulations and standards.
Presentation of examples of micro & nanotechnologies applications to healthcare resulting from a work group organized by Minalogic in 2009 dealing with the improvement of existing medical systems, the development of new devices and services and the diffusion of these technologies.
Nanotechnologies and nanosciences education at the world's leading research centers: diverse perspectives.
Presentation of the latest results and exciting highlights from CATRENE and ENIAC projects on application-oriented design technology for micro and nano electronics.
First, a workshop on the European funded project AFSID will cover recent advances in single dopant and single electron effects in silicon nanodevices. Our guest speakers will then provide deep insights into the role of basic research in the fields of materials and nanotechnologies.
Get an overview of embedded wafer level packaging at a series of talks by leaders who will present the state of the art and the potential applications of innovative packaging concepts.
People with both professional and academic backgrounds will share their experiences and insights around three major issues: applications and markets; business models and value creation; and techno-entrepreneurship and commercialization.
Breakthroughs in nanotechnologies open up the possibility of developing efficient and inexpensive green energies. This workshop aims at reviewing nanoenergy advances in the fields of transport, construction and portable devices.
The workshop aims at defining the training requirements of the European MEMS industry in the field of microtech and nanotech and will provide participants with keys to find the training answering their expectations.
The NanoVLSI Alliance (www.nanovlsi.com) opens new application opportunities based on its Nano‐ElectroMechanical Systems (NEMS) platform (functions, system architecture and technology) with a strong focus on three main areas.
Open Conferences
MINATEC Crossroads will also feature a slate of free conferences.
- The MINATEC Plenary Session
Tuesday, June 22 at 6:30 p.m.
Since it opened, MINATEC has fostered innovation by bringing together on a single campus experts in education, research, and technology transfer. In 2010, one of MINATEC's key actions will be to increase interaction between science and society, conveying information about scientific and technological issues and seeking feedback from citizens regarding their expectations in terms of technological innovation. Furthermore MINATEC shall play a major role in educating scholars and aims to interact more closely with children learning science at school.
MINATEC’s plenary session will offer you valuable insight into several initiatives taking place in France, which exemplify Mrs. Claudie Haigneré's vision of promoting interaction between science and society. Mrs. Haigneré, formerly French Science and Research Minister, currently heads the Cité des Sciences and Palais de la Découverte, two major scientific museums in France.
Keynote Speaker: Claudie Haigneré
Former French Minister of Science and Research
Head of the Cité des Sciences and the Palais de la Découverte
- GIANT Innovation Campus Round Table
Integration of the knowledge triangle - challenges and key success factors
Wednesday, June 23 at 5:30 p.m.
The partners of the GIANT Innovation Campus (UJF, G-INP, GEM, CEA, CNRS, ILL, EMBL, ESRF) are working together to develop the polygone scientifique of Grenoble into one of the world’s leading centres for advanced learning and research. The principal subject of this round table will be the integration of the three fundamental components of the knowledge triangle, namely higher education, research and innovation.
The panelists will be Professor Sukekatsu Ushioda (President of NIMS in Japan), Professor James Castracane (Head of the Nanobioscience Constellation, College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, University at Albany-SUNY, USA), Professor Horst Hippler (President of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany), as well as representatives of GIANT.
The debate will begin with brief presentations by each panelist.
Next, a broader discussion will address the following questions
What are the main challenges for research, education and innovation in the knowledge society?
What are the key success factors in integrating industry, research and higher education?
Panelists:
Professor Sukekatsu Ushioda, President of National Institute for NIMS, Japan
Professor James Castracane, Head of the Nanobioscience Constellation, College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, University at Albany-SUNY, United States
Professor Horst Hippler, President of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany
Representatives of GIANT
Professor Farid Ouabdesselam, President of University Joseph Fourier
Professor Thierry Grange, Director of Grenoble Ecole de Management
Dr. Bernard Hebral, Research Director at CNRS
Animated by Professor Bill Stirling, Scientific Coordinator, GIANT Project, CEA-Grenoble
- lnternational Relations for Responsible Nanotechnology-based Innovations
Thursday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m.
Beyond the perceived risks of nanotechnologies, real stories are now highlighting the urgent need to build an international regulatory framework for the development and commercialization of such potential breakthrough innovations. Beyond economic governance, human, ethical, social and local development issues must also be addressed. Françoise Roure will argue in favor of a global governance framework for nanotechnology-induced changes, with appropriate tools and methodologies, in order to develop and sustain responsible innovation. The conference will encourage interactive discussion with the audience.
After the conference, a cocktail will be offered to the participants.
Keynote Speaker: Françoise ROURE
Senior National Adviser
High Council for Industry, Energy and Technologies
French Ministry of the Economy, Industry and Employment
Moderator: Jean-François FIORINA
Director of Grenoble Business School, Grenoble Ecole de Management
