General public Conference: A general overview of Microelectronics - mai 31st, 6.30 - 8.30 pm
With the emergence of nanotechnologies, new multifunction electronic objects are a reality today (cell phones, video games, mp3 players, medical devices…).
Grenoble IT’s teachers will give you the opportunity to discover and to understand those complex systems, and to show you that they refer to concepts and technologies easy to understand.
With the opening of Minatec, it’s a unique occasion to discover the research and valorization know how of the Grenoble industrial and scientific cluster. Experience an interactive journey into the micro and nanotechnologies world!.

Program :
Introduction, by Paul Jacquet, Jean Brini and Laurent Montès

- The adventure of microelectronics: from first printed circuits to current processors
- Key figures for microelectronics in the world and in the Grenoble Area
How does it work? By Gilles Sicard and Laurent Montès
- How is a transistor working?
- From transistor to microprocessor
- From microelectronics to nanoelectronics
- General public current and future applications
What’s happening in a factory? By Nathalie Mathieu and Youla Morfouli
- From sand to chip
- Clean rooms, what for?
- Visit of a factory
